Inspired by childhood walks through snow-covered cedar trails and the hush of early spring meltwater, Where the Thaw Begins is not about sudden transformation—It’s about recognizing that the process had already started, long before you noticed.

Artist Notes

There are moments when change doesn’t feel like movement — only a softening. A shift so quiet it almost doesn’t register, until you realise something inside you has already let go.

Where the Thaw Begins was composed in reverence to those kinds of moments. Not breakthroughs. Not resolutions. But the slow return to clarity that happens beneath the surface of ordinary days.

This piece is rooted in memory — of cold forest walks, of melting snow revealing small paths of water, of quiet places that gave shape to bigger understandings later in life. It is not a recreation of those experiences, but an offering born from them.

Musically, the work is built on generative layers, legato sweeps, and restrained progression. There is no crescendo — only presence. No narrative — only return. It is meant to be inhabited, not solved.

This is a soundtrack for subtle awakenings.
For clarity without words.
For the long, soft thaw within.
